Editorial Standards

Korea Gateway is a media archive, not a content platform. Everything we publish is held to a single standard — would this still be accurate, relevant, and valuable in ten years? If yes, it belongs here.

Our Principles

What we stand for in every piece we publish

01 — Accuracy

Facts are verified before publication

Every factual claim — statistics, regulations, certifications, prices, dates — is verified against a primary source before publication. We do not publish claims that cannot be sourced.

02 — Independence

Editorial decisions are not for sale

Korea Gateway is ad-free. No brand, sponsor, or partner can influence what we publish, how we cover it, or where it appears. Commercial relationships are disclosed separately and never affect editorial content.

03 — Permanence

We publish for the long term

Content on Korea Gateway is written to remain accurate and relevant over time. We update content when facts change, and we do not delete articles to manage reputation — corrections are made transparently.

04 — Depth

Insight over information

AI can generate information. Korea Gateway publishes insight — the kind that comes from people who have lived, worked in, and thought deeply about Korea. Surface-level content does not meet our editorial threshold.

Content Categories

What we cover and how

Ask Korea — Q&A Archive

Ask Korea publishes researched answers to questions submitted by readers. Every answer is reviewed by a team member with direct knowledge of the subject. We do not publish speculative answers. If a question cannot be answered accurately, we say so.

Korea Marketplace — Brand Coverage

Brand profiles in Korea Marketplace are based on publicly available information and direct company submissions. We do not accept payment for brand features. Companies listed have been reviewed for export readiness and basic credibility. We do not endorse specific commercial relationships between buyers and sellers.

KG Archive — Interviews & Profiles

All interviews are conducted directly with the subject or their authorized representative. Quotes are verified with subjects before publication. Archive profiles are based on documented sources, not secondhand accounts.

KG SCA — Southern California

Coverage of the Korean-American community and business ecosystem in Southern California. Local reporting is supplemented by direct community engagement. We represent the community accurately, not aspirationally.

Sponsored content policy: Korea Gateway does not publish sponsored articles, advertorials, or paid-for brand profiles under editorial mastheads. All commercial partnerships are disclosed as such and are kept entirely separate from editorial content.

Corrections policy

When Korea Gateway publishes incorrect information, we correct it promptly and transparently. Corrections are noted at the top of the relevant article with the date of correction and a description of what was changed. We do not silently edit or delete inaccurate content.

Editorial Boundaries

What Korea Gateway does not publish

  • Content generated by AI without human editorial review and verification
  • Brand profiles, articles, or features paid for by the subject
  • Unverified statistics, rankings, or claims without primary source attribution
  • Content designed primarily for search engine ranking rather than reader value
  • Personal attacks, unverified allegations, or content that cannot be substantiated
  • Content that misrepresents Korea's culture, history, or people for commercial purposes
Our standard in one sentence: If it would embarrass a serious journalist, it does not belong on Korea Gateway.
Our Commitment

Korea Gateway exists because some things are worth recording carefully.

In an era when AI can produce unlimited content instantly, the most valuable thing a media archive can offer is not speed — it is trust. Every editorial standard described on this page exists to protect that trust, for the readers who rely on Korea Gateway today and for the generations who will use this archive in the future.

If you have questions about our editorial standards, believe we have made an error, or want to discuss a contribution, we want to hear from you.
